We are sorry to report that Brian, our acupuncturist and Matt, one of our chiropractors, have decided to move on to other things. Brian has decided to focus on his practice in Southam while Matt is planning to move to Norway where his girlfriend lives. Although we are sad to see them leave, we wish them both the best of fortune in their future endeavours. Matt's patients will be seen by either Simon, Anna or Steve. We are not planning to find another acupuncturist, but Brian's patients can look him up in Southam if they wish to continue treatment with him.
We are delighted to announce that Beth will be returning to Park Street Chiropractic to continue where she left off with her massage therapy. Having decided that teaching is not for her, she's keen to get stuck in to lots of tight muscles. It's perfect timing, as Catherine's diary is bursting at the seams, so there'll be much more availability for massage from now on. Beth will be working Monday afternoons from 2-8 and Saturday mornings from 9-2. Welcome back Beth!
As from the 12th of March 2011 we will be opening on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm. This is to further improve on the service we offer to our patients. We hope you find this a useful expansion to our opening times. Don't forget, we are also open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.
On the 30th January 2011 Simon took part in "Tough Guy," which is a combined cross-country run and assault course consisting of running through freezing water (some of which is neck high or deeper), clambering over logs, through trenches, over massive climbing frames, over burning hay and even through dark chambers with electrified wires hanging all over the place. The event took him 2 hrs, 42 mins and 31 secs which, although not a rapid time, was respectable enough considering the lack of preparation. As you can see from the photo, it was a messy affair!
We're delighted to announce that Simon and Anna have had a new addition to the family, with the birth of Freya Elisabeth on the 9th November, weighing 8lbs 8oz. She was born at home without any complications and is a thriving little baby girl. Oliver is thrilled to have a little sister, who he describes as a "little cutie!"
Following 4 years of outstanding service to the clinic, Beth has decided it's time to move on to new challenges. So, she has decided to pursue a career in teaching - secondary school chemistry, no less! Some would say teaching chemistry is tantamount to madness, but we always knew that Beth would finally move on to put her scientific degree to more specific use. She starts her PGCE in September which runs for a year, following which she will be a fully fledged teacher!
We are, naturally, very sorry to see Beth go but we are also excited for her as she faces the next chapter of her life. We take this opportunity to express our HUGE thanks to Beth for everything she has done for the clinic in her time with us. We know that things wouldn't be running as smoothly as they do without the work she has done over the years - for that we will always be grateful. We hope that Beth moves on with fond memories of her time with us, as we certainly feel priviledged to have worked with her.
Best of luck, Beth!!
After three and a half years running Park Street Chiropractic with Simon, James is moving on.
Following the work he has been doing with the NHS over the past 6 months, James has been offered a position with a "Big 4" consulting firm, starting in May. Simon and Anna will now be taking the reigns and running the clinic in partnership.
We're sorry to see James go but appreciate the fantastic opportunity he has been offered and wish him the best of luck. We know he'll do well as we couldn't have got to where we are without him!
It's been quite a while but we've finally had our fund-raising total from the British Heart Foundation for our London to Brighton charity bike ride in June. We're pleased to say that the Park Street Chiropractic team raised a total of £1210.94.
It was lower than our target but we're still pleased with our contribution and there's a good chance we'll be taking part again next year and trying to improve our fundraising!
We're pleased to announce a new member of the team.
Tori joined Park Street Chiropractic this month having moved back to the area after a few years studying and working in Brighton.
Tori has worked in various industries including an architect's office and a dental practice and has a strong interest in alternative and complementary therapies.
Tori will be working on reception on the days when Beth is away or treating her growing number of massage patients.
It's great to have another member of the team and we're sure you'll join us in making Tori feel welcome and wishing her the very best of luck in her new role with us.
Following the success of last year's ride, a team of 9 of us, including patients and friends, took part part in the 2008 London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday 15th June.
We rode in aid of the British Heart Foundation and raised over £1000 for the charity towards their target of more than £3.8 million for the whole event.
The British Heart Foundation do fantastic work and most of us know someone who either has already benefited from their work or will do in the future. Around 101,000 people die every year from heart disease and most of us know someone who is affected by it.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported us by. We really do appreciate it.
Here's a photo of most of the team - Tom, James, Carl, Chris, Simon, Mark and Ross (plus Cyd and Kaley - not in the pic). We'll post a picture of all 9 of us soon!
All of us at Park Street enjoy various sporting activities, as you know, and this month there's been a flurry of activity amongst our runners! Both Steve and Catherine have competed in long-distance runs over the past couple of weeks.
Steve took part in the Wilmslow Half Marathon on Sunday 30th March and Catherine did the London Marathon on Sunday 13th April.
Steve completed the Wilmslow Half Marathon with a time of 1 hour 42 minutes and finished in an impressive 822nd place out of 3437 runners. Not bad for his first event! Steve ran a solid race but was pretty tired and a little sore afterwards, as you would expect after 13 miles!
Catherine did the London Marathon in a time of 3 hours 28 minutes. For most of us that would be a time we couldn't imagine but, for Catherine, it was more of a fun run. The last time she ran the London Marathon she ran amongst the competitive athletes and says the run was a little lonely. Running with the main crowd this time, she says that it was much more fun and she really enjoyed every step of the run.
Congratulations to both Steve and Catherine on their achievements!

Congratulations to Beth, who has qualified as a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist.

We congratulate her on her achievement and wish her the best of luck.
Following the successful growth of Park Street Chiropractic Clinic to date, we are really pleased to be able to introduce you to our new chiropractor, who joined us on Monday August 6th.
Steven Marsland qualified as a chiropractor at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in Bournemouth (the same university as Simon) and, since graduating has been successfully treating patients in Rugby and Stratford.
In addition to treating the most common problems you might associate with chiropractors, such as back pain, headaches, neck pain, sciatica and trapped nerves, Steven has a special interest in the treatment of sports injuries. Being a keen sportsman himself, enjoying golf, tennis, squash, skiing and jogging, Steven has a strong focus on the prevention of future injuries.
Please join us in welcoming Steven to the practice and wishing him the very best of luck!
In July, we launched PS, our new, FREE monthly online newsletter. We did it!
James, Simon and our brother, Tom, took part in this year's London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday 17th June, in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
It took a little over 5 hours and was a fantastic day, with only a couple of rain showers!
We raised over £1200 for the British Heart Foundation, smashing our £1000 target! Thank you so much to everyone who supported us.
We are planning to put together a Park Street team for next year's ride. If you enjoy cycling and would like to join us in helping to raise loads of money for the British Heart Foundation, let us know. We can guarantee it will be a fantastic day!
Chiropractic Awareness Week (CAW) this year was a great success. We have been pleased to welcome many new people to the clinic as they came in for a free posture check.
The BCA launched the Straighten Up UK programme during CAW. The programme has been designed to increase awareness of the importance of posture to a healthy life. Correct posture helps prevent back (and other) problems arising and part of this initiative is a special daily 3 minute posture care exercise plan, which has been designed to be suitable for adults and children.
If you would like to find out more about this programme, and how it could help you and your family, please call us at the clinic on 01926 881883 or visit the Straighten Up UK website.
On Sunday 11 March Beth completed the Banbury 15 (a 15 mile run) in aid of the NSPCC. The run started at Spiceball Park in Banbury and followed a route along the Southam Road and along some lovely country roads through local villages including Claydon and Little Bourton, finishing back at the start point.
Beth completed the run in 2 hours and 49 minutes and, thanks to the generosity of many of our patients, raised a fantastic £400 for the NSPCC.
Beth would like to thank all of you who gave a donation and offered her support and encouragement during her training.
