Dry Needling

Dry Needling

We have many ways of dealing with muscle tensions and injuries; one of those is with the use of acupuncture needles.

The insertion of an acupuncture needle into a problem area can be helpful in different ways. It can help to release muscles that are in spasm by getting directly to the "trigger point" in the muscle. It can also be used to stimulate blood flow in areas where blood flow is naturally poor, such as in the junction between a tendon and a bone. It can also have the effect of alleviating pain by acting on the nerves responsible.

The process is not as painful as many would think, with most patients reporting that they feel a satisfying "ache" when the needle reaches its target. This is considered a good response. The risks associated with dry needling are minimal, with the most common reactions being temporary soreness and sometimes a small bruise. Your chiropractor will be happy to discuss with you whether this approach would be likely to benefit you.
