Back Pain
Back Pain Treatment in Leamington Spa & Warwick
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people contact Park Street Chiropractic. Whether you have been pushing through a dull ache for weeks, woken with a sudden twinge after gardening, or noticed your back flaring up every time work gets busy in Leamington Spa or Warwick, you are not alone. For most people across Warwickshire, back pain has a clear reason behind it, and with the right hands-on assessment it can be supported very well.
What is back pain?
The back is a clever stack of joints, discs, ligaments, nerves and hard-working muscles that all need to move and share load well. When one or more of those structures becomes stiff, irritated, overloaded or poorly supported, pain can build up. Sometimes the issue is mostly mechanical, such as restricted spinal joints or a pelvis that has shifted slightly. Sometimes it is more muscular, with tension, fatigue or spasm playing a leading role. Often it is a mixture of small factors that have added up rather than one big injury.
Common signs and symptoms
- A dull ache across the lower back or waistband
- Sharp pain when bending, lifting, twisting or standing up
- Morning stiffness or a feeling the back has locked up
- Pain spreading into the buttock, hip or upper leg
- Muscle spasm or difficulty standing fully upright
- Repeated flare-ups after long periods of sitting or driving
Common causes
- Long hours sitting at a desk or in the car
- Awkward lifting, gardening, gym strain or DIY
- Disc irritation or extra pressure through the lower spine
- Stiff spinal or pelvic joints that are not moving well
- Weakness through the core, glutes or supporting muscles
- Stress and tension that increase muscular guarding
How we can help at Park Street Chiropractic
Our focus is on understanding why your back is under strain, rather than chasing the sore spot. After a thorough conversation and physical assessment in our Leamington Spa clinic, your care may include chiropractic spinal adjustments to restore movement, pelvic blocks to gently realign the pelvis and decompress the spine, joint mobilisation techniques where a softer approach suits you better, and dry needling (acupuncture) to release stubborn muscular tension.
Deeper soft tissue work is also available through our separate sports massage therapist when that would be useful. Where the lower limb may be contributing, our gait scan (static and dynamic) and custom orthotics service can help reduce the constant strain that travels up from the feet. If clinically appropriate, on-site digital X-ray imaging can support diagnosis by giving us extra information about alignment and structural change. Together, the aim is to calm things down, restore comfortable movement and give you a clear plan you can actually follow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can chiropractic help with back pain?
Yes. For most mechanical back pain, chiropractic care can be a very useful approach. By improving joint movement, reducing muscular tension and addressing how the pelvis and spine load through the day, many people in Leamington Spa and Warwick find their pain settles and their day-to-day movement feels easier.
What's the difference between acute and chronic back pain?
Acute back pain has come on recently, usually within the last few weeks, and is often linked to a specific event such as lifting or a sudden movement. Chronic back pain has been around for three months or more and is usually influenced by a mix of factors, including stiffness, posture, stress and loading habits.
Is chiropractic treatment safe for back pain?
For most people, chiropractic care is a safe, non-invasive way to support back pain. We carry out a careful history and examination first, adapt techniques to suit your body and goals, and clearly explain anything we recommend. If your symptoms suggest a different route is more appropriate, we will tell you honestly.

I've been going to Park Street Chiropractic Clinic for a number of years now, following some lower back issues. Initially, I was treated by Abbie, who was fantastic in aiding my early recovery, supported superbly a handful of times by Henry when she was on leave. After an initial assessment, I had a course of treatments that involved multiple sessions per week to help get over my injury before transitioning to less frequent ones every six weeks or so to keep me in check. More recently, I've been going to Ellie, who has been amazing at providing regular adjustments and helpful advice that helps keep me in shape, despite the best efforts of my desk job to achieve otherwise. Ellie, as with all of the chiropractors there, is exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, as well as being very friendly, which helps to make the whole process much more relaxing than one would ordinarily associate with a medical treatment. All of the team, including the chiropractors and reception staff, are incredibly professional, friendly and welcoming, making visits there a pleasure. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ellie and any of the team at Park Street Chiropractic Clinic.Posted on Google![]()

I can’t thank Ellie enough for the excellent care I have received at Park Street Chiropractic clinic. I could hardly walk on my first appointment due to a back issue. Ellie was empathetic, supportive and patient, it’s taken me 3 months of regular manipulation appointments and now ongoing maintenance to get me back to 90% and back to walking my puppy 😊 Thank you and the whole team for your support.Posted on Google![]()

Having not seen a chiropractor for a long time, I went to see Ellie at Park Street Chiropractic, with chronic neck pain which was stopping me sleeping and impacting daily life. She swiftly recognised the issue and suggested a course of treatment, the impact of which was immediate. Would recommend Ellie and the team wholeheartedly.Posted on Google![]()

I saw Ellie for my hips/back and neck. I was an athlete for years so my joints are a tad hypermobile and Ellie came in like a queen and sorted me out. First visit had tons of relief, second visit had me fully back to normal. She’s an amazing godstar at her job. 10/10 go to her for care. I’ll be going in the future for any concernsPosted on Google![]()

I honestly can't recommend Henry highly enough, the treatment has made a huge difference, and I've been really impressed not only with Henry's knowledge and skill, but his genuine concern for his patients. I have literally recommended him to everyone I know.
