Hand Pain
Hand Pain Treatment in Leamington Spa & Warwick
We use our hands constantly, so even mild pain can become a big daily frustration. Patients across Leamington Spa and Warwick describe difficulty opening jars, gripping the steering wheel, using tools, typing, carrying shopping or lifting children. For some people the pain comes on suddenly after a strain. For others it builds up gradually through repeated use. Either way, the key is understanding which structures are under pressure and why.
What is hand pain?
Hand pain may involve the small joints, tendons, supporting muscles or soft tissues around the wrist and fingers. Common patterns include pain around the thumb base, stiffness in the fingers, overuse symptoms from repeated gripping or keyboard work, and strain that seems to travel between the hand, wrist and forearm. Because the hand sits at the end of a long chain, we also consider what the wrist, elbow, shoulder and neck may be contributing to the problem.
Common signs and symptoms
- Thumb or finger pain during gripping or pinching
- Aching through the palm, wrist or back of the hand
- Stiffness first thing in the morning
- Pain during typing, texting, lifting or tool use
- Reduced grip strength or hand fatigue
- Symptoms spreading between the hand, wrist and forearm
Common causes
- Repeated gripping, lifting or manual tasks
- Keyboard, mouse or phone overuse
- Thumb base strain or tendon irritation
- Stiffness through the wrist and forearm chain
- Old injuries that left weakness or poor movement
- General wear and tear in the smaller joints
How we can help at Park Street Chiropractic
Hand pain is treated as part of the wider upper limb in our Warwickshire clinic. Depending on the case, your care may include joint mobilisation techniques for the hand or wrist, chiropractic care to related areas in the elbow, shoulder or neck, and dry needling (acupuncture) for overactive forearm muscles.
Our separate sports massage therapist can provide focused deep tissue and soft tissue release where it would help calm overworked tissues. We will also discuss activity modification, grip patterns, workstation setup and strengthening or mobility exercises to reduce repeated overload. If imaging is likely to add useful structural information, we can discuss whether our on-site digital X-ray service is appropriate. The aim is to help your hand feel less reactive and more reliable for the everyday tasks you depend on.
If hand pain is making everyday tasks harder, book a consultation at Park Street Chiropractic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can chiropractic help with hand pain?
Yes. For many overuse and mechanical hand problems, chiropractic care can be a useful approach. By improving wrist and finger movement, easing tension through the forearm and considering the wider upper limb, we help patients across Leamington Spa and Warwick reduce stubborn day-to-day hand discomfort.
Why are my hands worse first thing in the morning?
Hands often feel stiffest in the morning because tissues have been still for several hours and inflammation tends to settle locally overnight. Once you start moving, circulation improves and the hands generally loosen up. Persistent morning stiffness, however, is worth getting checked properly.
Is chiropractic safe for hand conditions like arthritis?
Yes, with appropriate technique. We adapt our approach to suit arthritic joints, use gentler mobilisation where needed and never force a joint that does not want to move. Chiropractic care does not reverse arthritis, but it may help with stiffness, movement and overall hand comfort.

I've been going to Park Street Chiropractic Clinic for a number of years now, following some lower back issues. Initially, I was treated by Abbie, who was fantastic in aiding my early recovery, supported superbly a handful of times by Henry when she was on leave. After an initial assessment, I had a course of treatments that involved multiple sessions per week to help get over my injury before transitioning to less frequent ones every six weeks or so to keep me in check. More recently, I've been going to Ellie, who has been amazing at providing regular adjustments and helpful advice that helps keep me in shape, despite the best efforts of my desk job to achieve otherwise. Ellie, as with all of the chiropractors there, is exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, as well as being very friendly, which helps to make the whole process much more relaxing than one would ordinarily associate with a medical treatment. All of the team, including the chiropractors and reception staff, are incredibly professional, friendly and welcoming, making visits there a pleasure. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ellie and any of the team at Park Street Chiropractic Clinic.Posted on Google![]()

I can’t thank Ellie enough for the excellent care I have received at Park Street Chiropractic clinic. I could hardly walk on my first appointment due to a back issue. Ellie was empathetic, supportive and patient, it’s taken me 3 months of regular manipulation appointments and now ongoing maintenance to get me back to 90% and back to walking my puppy 😊 Thank you and the whole team for your support.Posted on Google![]()

Having not seen a chiropractor for a long time, I went to see Ellie at Park Street Chiropractic, with chronic neck pain which was stopping me sleeping and impacting daily life. She swiftly recognised the issue and suggested a course of treatment, the impact of which was immediate. Would recommend Ellie and the team wholeheartedly.Posted on Google![]()

I saw Ellie for my hips/back and neck. I was an athlete for years so my joints are a tad hypermobile and Ellie came in like a queen and sorted me out. First visit had tons of relief, second visit had me fully back to normal. She’s an amazing godstar at her job. 10/10 go to her for care. I’ll be going in the future for any concernsPosted on Google![]()

I honestly can't recommend Henry highly enough, the treatment has made a huge difference, and I've been really impressed not only with Henry's knowledge and skill, but his genuine concern for his patients. I have literally recommended him to everyone I know.
