Knee Pain Treatment in Leamington Spa & Warwick

Knee pain affects people of all ages across Leamington Spa and Warwick, from runners and gym-goers to busy parents, dog walkers and people who simply want to manage the stairs without thinking about it. Some knee pain starts after a twist or impact. Some build up gradually from walking, running, squatting, gardening or standing for long periods. Because the knee sits between the hip and foot, it is often influenced by what is happening above and below it as well.

What is knee pain?

The knee is a hard-working joint that relies on good movement, alignment and support from the muscles around it. Pain can come from the kneecap area, the inner or outer joint line, surrounding tendons or irritated soft tissues. Sometimes the knee itself is the main source of trouble. Other times, poor foot mechanics, reduced hip control or altered walking patterns are placing repeated strain through the knee with every step. Identifying which of these is most relevant helps us build a sensible plan.

Common signs and symptoms

  • Pain going up or down stairs
  • Aching around or behind the kneecap
  • Pain squatting, kneeling or standing up from sitting
  • Stiffness after rest or long car journeys
  • Swelling, weakness or reduced confidence in the knee
  • Pain during running, walking or exercise

Common causes

  • Patellofemoral overload or tracking issues
  • Sports injuries, twists or ligament strain
  • Reduced hip strength or poor lower limb control
  • Foot mechanics affecting the line of force through the knee
  • Tendon irritation from running or jumping
  • Age-related wear and reduced joint resilience

How we can help at Park Street Chiropractic

Knee pain is rarely only about the knee. In our Warwickshire clinic we assess the whole lower limb, including the foot, ankle, hip, pelvis and walking pattern, so we can understand the real source of strain. Treatment may include joint mobilisation techniques for the knee, chiropractic care for related areas such as the pelvis, lower back or ankle, and dry needling (acupuncture) for tight quadriceps, calves or hip muscles.

Where deeper release is needed, our separate sports massage therapist can support recovery with focused soft tissue and deep tissue work. If your foot mechanics are driving the problem, our gait scan (static and dynamic) and custom orthotics service can help reduce the repeated overload that travels through the knee. We will also coach you through realistic exercises and movement changes to help the knee tolerate load more comfortably.

Book a knee pain consultation and let us help you move with more confidence again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can chiropractic help with knee pain?

Yes. Chiropractic care can support many causes of mechanical knee pain by improving joint movement, easing related tension and addressing the wider chain of the lower limb. Many of our patients in Leamington Spa and Warwick find this combined approach particularly helpful.

Sometimes, with sensible modifications. The answer depends on what is causing the pain and how it responds to activity. Often, adjusting your training load, route, footwear or recovery is enough to keep you running while symptoms settle. We will help guide you through that.

Yes, with appropriate technique adjustments. We assess carefully, modify our approach to suit arthritic joints and use gentler options where needed. Chiropractic care does not reverse arthritis, but it may help reduce stiffness, support movement and improve overall comfort.

I've been going to Park Street Chiropractic Clinic for a number of years now, following some lower back issues. Initially, I was treated by Abbie, who was fantastic in aiding my early recovery, supported superbly a handful of times by Henry when she was on leave. After an initial assessment, I had a course of treatments that involved multiple sessions per week to help get over my injury before transitioning to less frequent ones every six weeks or so to keep me in check. More recently, I've been going to Ellie, who has been amazing at providing regular adjustments and helpful advice that helps keep me in shape, despite the best efforts of my desk job to achieve otherwise. Ellie, as with all of the chiropractors there, is exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, as well as being very friendly, which helps to make the whole process much more relaxing than one would ordinarily associate with a medical treatment. All of the team, including the chiropractors and reception staff, are incredibly professional, friendly and welcoming, making visits there a pleasure. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ellie and any of the team at Park Street Chiropractic Clinic.

I came in to see Ellie, and I was in quite a bad way. Thanks to Ellie my neck and lower back are now so much better, with no pain and much more movement. Really was life changing.

I can’t thank Ellie enough for the excellent care I have received at Park Street Chiropractic clinic. I could hardly walk on my first appointment due to a back issue. Ellie was empathetic, supportive and patient, it’s taken me 3 months of regular manipulation appointments and now ongoing maintenance to get me back to 90% and back to walking my puppy 😊 Thank you and the whole team for your support.

Having not seen a chiropractor for a long time, I went to see Ellie at Park Street Chiropractic, with chronic neck pain which was stopping me sleeping and impacting daily life. She swiftly recognised the issue and suggested a course of treatment, the impact of which was immediate. Would recommend Ellie and the team wholeheartedly.

I saw Ellie for my hips/back and neck. I was an athlete for years so my joints are a tad hypermobile and Ellie came in like a queen and sorted me out. First visit had tons of relief, second visit had me fully back to normal. She’s an amazing godstar at her job. 10/10 go to her for care. I’ll be going in the future for any concerns

I honestly can't recommend Henry highly enough, the treatment has made a huge difference, and I've been really impressed not only with Henry's knowledge and skill, but his genuine concern for his patients. I have literally recommended him to everyone I know.
