A FEW STEPS TO LESS PAIN
Orthotics are medical devices that are worn in the shoes to correct biomechanical abnormalities of the feet. The most common of these is hyperpronation (sometimes abbreviated to “pronation”), which is when the feet roll inwards more than they should. In much the same way as glasses correct your vision, orthotics are designed to support and stabilise the feet. This helps to take the strain off the feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back.
Some people come to us knowing they have problems with the feet that need correcting; others come for other reasons that turn out to be caused by abnormal foot mechanics. We also take referrals from other healthcare providers asking us to assess their patients for them. Either way, we are able to use our state of the art scanning equipment alongside our clinical knowledge and assessment to prescribe orthotics that are specifically designed for the individual. Have a look at our video, which shows the scanner in action.
Orthotics can be used to help with foot pain, plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, ankle pain, knee pain, recurrent calf or other muscle strains, achilles tendonitis, hip pain, back pain and some other muscular or joint problems.
