Pregnancy Pain
Pregnancy Pain Relief in Leamington Spa & Warwick
Pregnancy asks a lot of the body. As your bump grows, your posture changes, your centre of gravity shifts and your joints and ligaments become more mobile in preparation for birth. For many of the women we see in Leamington Spa and Warwick, that can mean back pain, pelvic discomfort, hip tightness, rib strain or simply a sense that the body is working much harder than usual. While some discomfort is common in pregnancy, that does not mean you have to just put up with it.
What is pregnancy-related discomfort?
Pregnancy-related discomfort usually comes from how the body adapts over time. Increased movement through the pelvis, extra pressure through the lower back, changes in walking pattern, muscle fatigue and disrupted sleep can all play a part. Some women feel pain around the sacroiliac joints, pubic area, lower back, hips or mid-back. Others notice sciatica-like symptoms or increased tension through the neck and shoulders as they adjust to feeding, lifting and carrying. Every pregnancy is different, which is why care needs to be tailored.
Common signs and symptoms
- Lower back pain that worsens as pregnancy progresses
- Pelvic aching or discomfort when walking or turning in bed
- Hip tightness or one-sided buttock pain
- Mid-back or rib discomfort from postural change
- Sciatica-like pain into the leg
- General stiffness and difficulty getting comfortable
Common causes
- Changes in posture and centre of gravity
- Increased ligament laxity and pelvic movement
- Muscle fatigue from carrying extra weight
- Sleep disruption and reduced recovery
- Previous back or pelvic issues becoming more noticeable
- Daily strain from sitting, standing, lifting or walking
How we can help at Park Street Chiropractic
Throughout pregnancy, care at our Warwickshire clinic is always adapted to the individual and to the stage of pregnancy. We focus on gentle, comfortable techniques aimed at reducing strain and helping the body move more easily. Depending on what we find, your plan may include gentle chiropractic care, pelvic blocks to support pelvic balance and decompress the lower back, joint mobilisation techniques and dry needling (acupuncture) where suitable. Our separate sports massage therapist can also help with carefully chosen soft tissue work.
If your lower limb mechanics are adding to the load, our gait scan (static and dynamic) and custom orthotics service can help reduce strain through the pelvis and lower back. We will also share practical advice on movement, posture, sleep, sitting and getting in and out of cars or beds, so daily life feels a little easier as your pregnancy progresses.
If pregnancy discomfort is affecting your day, book a gentle, tailored consultation with Park Street Chiropractic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can chiropractic help during pregnancy?
Yes. Gentle, well-chosen chiropractic care can be very supportive during pregnancy by helping the pelvis and lower back cope with the changes happening. Many of our patients in Leamington Spa and Warwick find that thoughtful, hands-on care makes day-to-day life noticeably more comfortable.
When in pregnancy is it best to start treatment?
There is no single right time. Many women begin care when they first notice discomfort, while others book in earlier as a proactive step. Care is always adapted to your stage of pregnancy and is most useful when symptoms are addressed sooner rather than left to escalate.
Is chiropractic safe for me and my baby?
Yes, when delivered by an experienced clinician who adapts treatment for pregnancy. We use gentle techniques, pregnancy-friendly positioning and adjust everything to your comfort. If anything we find suggests another route is better for you, we will be honest about that.

I've been going to Park Street Chiropractic Clinic for a number of years now, following some lower back issues. Initially, I was treated by Abbie, who was fantastic in aiding my early recovery, supported superbly a handful of times by Henry when she was on leave. After an initial assessment, I had a course of treatments that involved multiple sessions per week to help get over my injury before transitioning to less frequent ones every six weeks or so to keep me in check. More recently, I've been going to Ellie, who has been amazing at providing regular adjustments and helpful advice that helps keep me in shape, despite the best efforts of my desk job to achieve otherwise. Ellie, as with all of the chiropractors there, is exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, as well as being very friendly, which helps to make the whole process much more relaxing than one would ordinarily associate with a medical treatment. All of the team, including the chiropractors and reception staff, are incredibly professional, friendly and welcoming, making visits there a pleasure. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ellie and any of the team at Park Street Chiropractic Clinic.Posted on Google![]()

I can’t thank Ellie enough for the excellent care I have received at Park Street Chiropractic clinic. I could hardly walk on my first appointment due to a back issue. Ellie was empathetic, supportive and patient, it’s taken me 3 months of regular manipulation appointments and now ongoing maintenance to get me back to 90% and back to walking my puppy 😊 Thank you and the whole team for your support.Posted on Google![]()

Having not seen a chiropractor for a long time, I went to see Ellie at Park Street Chiropractic, with chronic neck pain which was stopping me sleeping and impacting daily life. She swiftly recognised the issue and suggested a course of treatment, the impact of which was immediate. Would recommend Ellie and the team wholeheartedly.Posted on Google![]()

I saw Ellie for my hips/back and neck. I was an athlete for years so my joints are a tad hypermobile and Ellie came in like a queen and sorted me out. First visit had tons of relief, second visit had me fully back to normal. She’s an amazing godstar at her job. 10/10 go to her for care. I’ll be going in the future for any concernsPosted on Google![]()

I honestly can't recommend Henry highly enough, the treatment has made a huge difference, and I've been really impressed not only with Henry's knowledge and skill, but his genuine concern for his patients. I have literally recommended him to everyone I know.
